13 Bees

13 Bees represents years of dreaming.  Of thinking that living more sustainably is possible in the real world and that sharing our passion for the amazing world of bees with interested people would be a great thing to do.

So here we are, enthusiastic amateurs in one of the sunniest parts of France, inviting you to come and spend some time on the banks of the river Vienne with us to unwind and to have fun with the bees.  But most of all to treat yourself to a new experience and a holiday you won't forget.  We hope to see you soon!

Amanda and Kevin Baughen

The one responsible for our adventure in France, Amanda is the chief dreamer.  What started off as a curiosity for bees was fuelled by a taster day at a Surrey Beekeeping Association.  Fast forward several years, multiple hives, too many stings and many, many bees and Amanda has developed a genuine affection for our fuzzy insect friends which she loves sharing with others.

Trained by a former government bee inspector, Amanda shares a little theory and runs practical sessions for guests and her naturally calm and reassuring demeanour goes down brilliantly with both guests and the bees!

The talker of our team, Kevin hosts many of the beekeeping discussions as well as practical sessions with guests.  As a former professional public speaker, there's always plenty of energy, anecdotes and laughter along with insight into what keeping bees is like in the real world.

From building hives to catching swarms 30 feet up a tree, Kevin has experience and stories to share from the things that have gone wrong as well as those that went to plan.
